BOROUGH PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — Officials are investigating the cause of a Brooklyn apartment fire that sent nearly 30 people to the hospital, according to the FDNY.
Calls came in for the residential fire at 1270 54th St. between 132nd Ave. and 12th Ave. in Borough Park just after 7:10 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to officials, the report was for a first-floor fire in the four-story apartment building. The fire was under control around 8:15 a.m., officials said. Citizen video showed crews in front of the residence with broken windows on the second and third floors as well.
Twelve units and 60 emergency responders were on the scene.
The FDNY officials said 27 people were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, officials said.
