The New York Giants are considering former Las Vegas Raiders head coaching flop Antonio Pierce among their ‘wide net’ of options, according to a new report.

Pierce played for the Giants for five seasons during his own NFL career, but his coaching career has been underwhelming to say the least, after he went 9-17 in two years with the Raiders.

ESPN are reporting that Pierce is expected to interview for the vacant Giants position, as the team steps up its head coaching search at the end of the season.

The current list of candidates also includes former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula.

It is also expected that the Giants will interview current interim head coach Mike Kafka as a ‘wide net’ is cast in a bid to find the right man for the job.

The search is currently being led by general manager Joe Schoen, with reports claiming that there are no plans to fire him – despite many fans being keen to see the end of his reign.

Sources have told ESPN that he will stay, ‘barring any last-minute change of mind by ownership or a high-level candidate who demands his own general manager’.

The Giants have one game left at the end of the 2025 season and are currently 3-13, bottom of the NFC East behind the Eagles, Cowboys and Commanders.

As it stands, New York holds the No 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, ahead of their final game at home against the Dallas Cowboys.

It can still take the No 1 spot if the Raiders beat the Kansas City Chiefs, who have also tanked in recent weeks following the ACL injury to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
