EAST NEW YORK — POLICE HAVE TAKEN a person of interest into custody in a New Year’s Day slashing in East New York that left a 38-year-old man hospitalized in stable condition, reports News 12.

The attack occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. at 520 Williams Ave., where the victim was slashed in the arm. EMS transported him to One Brooklyn Health–Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, authorities said, describing the incident as domestic in nature. Investigators have not released details about the suspect or the circumstances leading up to the attack, and officials said the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities cautioned that early-stage arrests and detentions do not necessarily result in criminal charges.
