BOROUGH PARK — POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING HOW AND WHY A BOX OF NYPD APPAREL was found abandoned on 37th Street and 9th Avenue, near the Green-Wood Cemetery, according to reports from the Daily News and PIX 11 News. The box, reportedly “overflowing” with uniform shirts, hats, pants and NYPD insignias, was taken to the 66th Precinct for safekeeping while law enforcement investigates how and why it was left in public.
Some X users saw a connection between the abandoned box and the timing of Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration, and opined that the NYPD are angry about the democratic socialist’s election. Others thought that it would be too easy for imposters to commandeer the uniforms, and one user thought that the box might be part of a terror plot.
