1. MTA fare and toll hikes take effect
Riders and drivers are paying more as MTA fare and toll increases officially took effect Sunday.
The base subway and bus fare rose to $3, while single-ride tickets and express bus fares also increased. Bridge and tunnel tolls climbed 7.5%, with E-ZPass rates now topping $7 at most major crossings.
2. Mamdani says he called Trump to voice opposition to Maduro capture
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he personally called President Donald Trump to voice opposition to the U.S. capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, calling it a violation of federal and international law.
Maduro was brought to the U.S. to face criminal charges in New York following a military operation in Venezuela. Trump has said the U.S. would temporarily oversee Venezuela and tap its oil reserves.
3. City to move forward with McGuinness Boulevard redesign
Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the city will move ahead with a long-delayed redesign of McGuinness Boulevard in Greenpoint, a project aimed at improving safety after multiple pedestrian deaths.
