Major international news is unfolding in a Manhattan federal courtroom.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife are scheduled to appear before a judge Monday on drug-trafficking conspiracy and other charges.

The two were brought to New York following a military operation in Venezuela over the weekend, with Maduro flown by helicopter from Brooklyn to Manhattan under heavy DEA escort.
