Queen Camilla opted for modern style with a touch of historic reverence for Sunday’s service at St Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham, Norfolk, wearing a Fiona Clare coat with the 1902 Coronation brooch.
The United Kingdom’s queen consort’s Fiona Clare coat was designed with long sleeves, an A-line silhouette and a Peter Pan collar. On the collar of the piece, Queen Camilla donned the 1902 Coronation brooch, which holds a deep history and significance for the British royal family.

Designed with pearls and gilded in gold and red, the small brooch was crafted in an Art Nouveau style with the year 1902 in a looping fashion. The year commemorates the Coronation of King Edward VII, the great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II and ancestor of King Charles III.
Although the exact number of 1902 Coronation brooches that were created at the time of King Edward VII’s ascension to the throne is unknown, the brooches were likely given to select family members and guests, according to The Crown Chronicles.

Queen Camilla’s own ancestry has a thorny tie to the British royal family and King Edward VII in particular. During the aforementioned monarch’s reign, Alice Keppel, Queen Camilla’s great-grandmother, was King Edward VII’s mistress, involved with the king for roughly 12 years beginning in 1898 before his ascension.
The queen consort has an extensive jewelry collection. Along with her own pieces, Queen Camilla has inherited several brooches, tiaras and jewelry suites from the late Queen Elizabeth II, often wearing those pieces for special occasions, like state banquets, and official royal outings.
