New York’s GOP voted on Friday to suspend the state’s Young Republicans chapter following a mass chat thread that was leaked to the press – exposing what leaders have called ‘vile’ and ‘disturbing’ racist remarks.
According to numerous sources, New York’s GOP Party Chairperson, Ed Cox, issued a statement saying that New York State Young Republicans were “already grossly mismanaged” and that the “vile language of the sort made in the group chat has no place in our party or its subsidiary organizations.”
As previously reported, the content of this mass group chat included racial slurs about Black and Latino people, praise for Adolf Hitler and jokes about gas chambers.
North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik was very quick to condemn the remarks, along with several other fellow Republican figures who soon followed.
State Senator Joe Griffo also joined in with condemning those who were allegedly involved in this latest scandal.
