WASHINGTON (TNND) — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s tenant director Cea Weaver had a resurfaced tweet come up that said she believes home ownership is a tool of white supremacy.
“Private property including and kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as ‘wealth building’ public policy,” the tweet, uncovered by conservative account “Libs of TikTok” reads.
The tweet was posted on August 21, 2019, when X was called Twitter.
She tweeted about home ownership being a tool of white supremacy, has been deleted.
In the past, Weaver has called to “seize private property” and at one point, she called to “impoverish the white middle class,” according to The Daily Mail.
Earlier this week, there was a video going viral of Weaver saying that white people who own property will have a different relationship with property going forward.
“I think the reality is that for centuries we have really treated property as an individualized good and not a collective good,” she said. “And we are transitioning to treating it as a collective good and a model of shared equity.”
She said that white families and some POC families who are homeowners will have a different relationship with property.
Mamdani has described himself as a democratic socialist and campaigned on freezing rent, having city-owned grocery stores and free busses.
