A campaign fundraiser held in Queens on January 4 showed rising political engagement within the Indian American community and early support for Raj Goyle, a Democratic Primary candidate for New York State Comptroller.
The event was hosted by community leaders Dr. Thomas Abraham, Alex Esthappan, and Vim K. Goyal, and drew supporters and local leaders from across the tri-state New York area.
It served as both a fundraising effort and a chance for attendees to meet the candidate and discuss state-level issues.
Goyle spoke about his plans for the comptroller’s office, focusing on financial accountability, innovation in managing state funds, and keeping New York affordable. Attendees listened closely and expressed confidence in his candidacy.
The fundraiser surpassed its target, raising more than $7,000 for the campaign. Organizers said the strong response reflected growing momentum for Goyle in the early phase of the race.
A large number of Indian American community leaders attended the event, highlighting increased civic participation and unity. The gathering underscored the importance many place on the Democratic Primary, which is expected to play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the November election.
