STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities raided a Stapleton dispensary Wednesday afternoon, arrested one individual and seizing more than 17 pounds of illicit cannabis products and psilocybin mushrooms, officials said.

The individual faces multiple charges, including aggravated criminal sale of cannabis and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to a release from the New York City Office of the Sheriff.

Members of the Sheriff’s Joint Compliance Task Force executed a search warrant at around 1:40 p.m. at 644 Bay St., between Canal and Thompson streets, according to the report.

Punkiez, a dispensary offering express cannabis delivery services that also hosts “pop-up smoke session” events in the borough, is located at the address provided by authorities.

The operation stemmed from community complaints alleging the business was selling cannabis and other products illegally to young people, the sheriff’s announcement said.

During the raid, officers recovered approximately 17 pounds of illicit cannabis and related items, including 12 pounds of cannabis flower, one pound of THC vape product and four pounds of THC edibles. Authorities also seized 11 packaged bags of vegetative psilocybin mushrooms, officials said.

Bay Street was temporarily closed from Thompson Street to Canal Street during the operation and police taped off the sidewalk in front of several nearby homes.

The investigation remains ongoing.
