STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 55-year-old man was arrested after police allege they recovered a loaded gun at his home in South Beach.
A domestic dispute prompted the police response during which the firearm was found, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
Williams Damms of Jackson Avenue was arrested on Dec. 30 around noon after officers confiscated a 9 mm Beretta pistol with 13 bullets in its magazine, according to the criminal complaint.
The complaint alleges that the defendant “does not have a license to carry or possess a firearm in the City of New York and is not a dealer in rifles or shotguns in New York City.”
Damms has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
The defendant has pleaded not guilty to all charges and has been released with non-monetary conditions.
He is due back in Criminal Court in St. George on Jan. 12, according to public records.
An attorney for the defendant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
