The Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh is asking patients and visitors to wear masks inside the facility as respiratory viruses like the flu surge across New York.All CVPH employees who see patients are now being required to wear a mask. At this time, officials said masks are not required for patients and guests, but they strongly encourage masks.New York currently has a very high flu status, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.In Essex County, the health department reported 44 flu cases last week, as well as nine COVID-19 cases and five cases of RSV.
