TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – An effort to get free dental care to as many people as possible is coming to Manhattan later this month.
Niki Sadler, executive director of the Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation, and Manhattan dentist Dr. Jill Ellner, chairperson for this year’s local planning committee, visited Eye on NE Kansas with details on the Kansas Mission of Mercy.
Sadler has been organizing the Mission of Mercy events for more than 20 years now. The clinic are an opportunity for people to get free dental services, including cleanings, fillings and extractions. She said the need is always great and they try to see as many people as they can.
Ellner said it’s important for people to be able to access dental care. She said more than 400 volunteers will be working together to make the event happen.
Sadler said 60 dentists are signed up to provide services so far. She expects that will grow to 100 by the time of the event, which will allow them to see more patients.
The Kansas Mission of Mercy from the KS Dental Charitable Foundation runs Jan. 30 & 31 at the Army National Guard Armory, 721 Levee Dr. in Manhattan. Doors open at 5:30 a.m. each day.
No appointments are taken. People will be seen first come, first served. Both children and adults will be able to receive care.

The Kansas Mission of Mercy was held in Hutchinson last year. In 2023, it took place at Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka.
