On Saturday at 4:05 a.m. the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 9 a.m. for Herkimer, Hamilton, Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Warren, Washington, Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, Greene and Ulster counties.

“With temperatures already at or below freezing this morning, or expected to fall to freezing within the next hour or two, any snow that melted yesterday has either refrozen or will refreeze. This has and will continue to result in slippery patches of ice across portions of eastern New York and western New England. Motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution if driving or walking through 9 a.m. this morning and be prepared for a possible thin layer of ice on roadways, sidewalks, stairs, driveways or any other untreated ground surfaces which may remain icy and slippery,” states the weather service.
