Australia has had a recent history of putting out amazing female wrestlers in recent years from one of the biggest pro wrestling stars in the world Rhea Ripley, to one of the most popular female tag teams in the IIconics, the greatest AEW Women’s Champion, Toni Storm, former NXT Women’s Champion and current TNA superstar, Indi Hartwell, and many more. A lot of this is due to the training and influences of Madison and Robbie Eagles.
While there are a lot of women’s wrestlers that have come from Australia that are or have been working at major promotions, there are still some amazing talents that are unsigned working in Australia and around the world. Leading this group is Charli Evans and Jessica Troy. In this past PWI 500 Charli and Jessica are the among the top females on the list with Charli Evans at 99 and Jessica Troy at 131.

Charli is known in America for wrestling at promotions like GCW, Shimmer and more. She has also made a big impact in Europe, teaming with her Medusa Complex partner, Millie McKenzie. The Medusa Complex captured tag team championships in England with EVE and also in Japan with Sendai Girls. Medusa Complex was in the main event at EVE’s Wrestle Queendom in 2020, which is their biggest event of the year. They had an incredibly memorable and violent match against Gisele Shaw & Sammii Jayne and The Woke Queens (Debbie Keitel and Valkyrie).
Back in Australia, Charli is part of a group called North Shore Wrestling. They are arrogant, but are able to back it up. Charli currently holds the PWA Championship, which she won from her former best friend Jessica Troy, after turning on her and joining North Shore Wrestling. Charli has defended this title against Kai Drake, and most recently against Shay Kassidy.

Jessica Troy is more known for her work in her home country of Australia. She has had some international travel with matches in Shimmer, Black Label Pro, and some other promotions, but has made her biggest impression in her home country, where many of her fellow wrestlers consider her the best wrestler in the world. This may seem like an exaggeration, but once you watch Jessica’s matches you will understand why she is in such high regard from her fellow wrestlers.
Jessica is known as the Arm Collector due to her submission moves, but she is so much more than that. She had a violent cage match with Steph DeLander, an incredible last women standing match with Charli Evans, and even dove off a balcony in one of her matches during the PWA Colosseum Tournament. She was the first person to defend the PWA Championship through the Colosseum Tournament, and she amazed in all three tournament matches.
On Night One, she faced her best friend, Charli Evans, then on night two she defeated Kai Drake and Tommy Knight in an incredible finals. Any time that you get to see a Jessica Troy match, I highly recommend it, as she truly is one of the best wrestlers in the world.
Two wrestlers that come from Australia and are now making waves in North America are Kingsley, who is currently wrestling in Canada, and Lena Kross, who is currently based out of New Jersey and is having incredible matches in the US and Japan.

Kingsley rose to fame in Australia as part of the Backslide Girlz, which included herself, Shay Kassidy and Everett Connors. The Backslide Girlz won the original OPW Women’s Tag Team Championship on an incredible all-women’s event H.E.R. They also held the PWA Tag Team Championships.
The Backslide Girlz were known just as much for their antics and entrances as they were for the matches. They sang their way to the ring, occasionally with choreographed routines that sometimes even included back up dancers. Kingsley came to North America during WrestleMania week and had an incredible match with Hyan at Pandemonium Pro’s event.
She then headed off to her new home of Canada to make some new friends and possibly new enemies. Kingsley has faced some of Canada and North America’s best in the past few months, like KC Spinelli, Alexia Nicole, Leah Sparks, Taylor Rising, Gabby Forza, and more. She also recently released two songs onto all streaming platforms, her entrance song “(Say My Name) Kingsley” and Shay’s entrance song “Shake”.

Lena Kross also came to the United States during WrestleMania week. She had an amazing match in the main event of the SPARK show against Hazuki. She then went to Japan to wrestle for Sendai Girls and has been going back and forth between the US independents and Sendia Girls.
Before coming to America on a more permanent basis, Lena had a mini stop in 2024, where she faced Megan Bayne for the HOG Women’s Championship, and had an absolutely tremendous match against Notorious Mimi at Belle 2 Bell. Lena usually towers over her opponents, but whenever she meets up with someone her size, I think that it brings out the best in her. Lena has had matches in ROH, TNA, and AEW and is really poised to be the next big star out of Australia.

Two of the rising stars in Australia are Shay Kassidy and Rita Stone. Both have had success as tag team wrestlers and has singles wrestlers, taking on the best wrestlers in Australia. Rita Stone may not be the biggest wrestler on this list, but she may be the most athletic. She uses her speed and athleticism to evade her bigger opponent and finish them off with a 450 splash or a Labell Lock.
Last year, Rita had an incredible 30 minute iron woman match where she defeated Charli Evans in the final seconds. This match displayed not only is she a great wrestler, but she is also tough as hell. Whether it is in her tag team CBK, with Ben Braxton, or as a singles wrestler, Rita is proving that she is one of the top wrestlers in Australia.

I have to be honest and let you know that Shay Kassidy is absolutely one of my favorite wrestlers right now. From her energy to her singing, her dancing, her promos and her stuffed bear named Barnaby. All of it is what I love about wrestling.
Since Kingsley left for Canada and the Backslide Girlz lost their PWA Tag Team Championships, Shay has been wrestling singles matches, and taking on the best that Australia has to offer, in Rita Stone, Jessica Troy, and Charli Evans. In fact, Shay was the first person to beat Charli in a singles match in PWA in almost a year, when she pinned Charli with a quick backslide in a non-title match at the last PWA show. Charli then gave Shay a title match, after North Shore Wrestling beat her down, and retained the title with the help of NSW.
Australia has given us many great female wrestlers, and as you can see there are many more coming. They also cover every style, from the hardcore/strong style of Charli Evans, to the technical grappling of Jessica Troy, and the pure entertainment of Shay Kassidy.
You can see Charli Evans, Shay Kassidy, Jessica Troy and all of the stars of Pro Wrestling Australia on their YouTube channel, which airs all of their events live. Their next event is “Let them Fight 5” on November 7.
Kingsley will be having her biggest match since moving to Canada at Alpha-1 on November 2, when she takes on Jody Threat, Alice Crowley and Laynie Luck in a 4 way elimination match that will air live on Highspots TV. Lena Kross is booked and busy in the US. She will be part of JCW’s Luna Vachon Invitational on October 26, taking on Sammi Chaos for the Respect Women’s Championship on November 14 and many more places.
