MARCY, N.Y. — SUNY Poly celebrated 88 graduate students in its nurse practitioner program as they completed the instructional portion of their studies.
The annual White Coat Ceremony marked the transition for these students as they prepare to begin their clinical practice.
They will work alongside professionals in the Mohawk Valley to apply their classroom learning in real-world healthcare settings.
Nurse practitioner student Melissa Edwards said, “Actually, I am going to be doing my clinical experience with my primary doctor, who has been my doctor since I was 17, when I approached him, he was so grateful and definitely felt like it was an honor for me to ask because he has been my physician for over 20 years.”
After donning their white coats, all 88 students publicly recited the nurses’ oath to demonstrate their commitment to patient-centered care.
