SHEEPSHEAD BAY, Brooklyn (WABC) — Two people are dead and a driver is on the run after a car and motorcycle collided while exiting the Belt Parkway in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn.
Police say a white Mercedes Benz sedan and the motorcycle were taking the westbound exit ramp at a high rate of speed when they collided just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday night
The force of the collision flipped the sedan into three parked cars.
The 22-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A 28-year-old passenger in the sedan was taken to the same hospital in critical condition where they later died.
“If you’re ever outside late at night for any reason, you could hear really loud engines flying down, you can tell how fast they’re going,” said Stephen Livshits, who was visiting family near the crash. “They go nuts on the Belt sometimes on this stretch.”
The driver of the Mercedes, who was only described as a man, ran away and is being sought by police.
