Kansas State University is launching two new programs—the MHK Pathway and SLN Pathway—in partnership with Manhattan Area Technical College and Salina Area Technical College to help students who don’t meet traditional freshman admission requirements earn a bachelor’s degree. Starting in spring 2026, eligible students can live in K-State residence halls, participate in university life, and take courses at both K-State and the partner technical colleges. After completing at least 24 credit hours with a minimum 2.0 GPA, students can transfer fully to K-State to continue their degree.
These programs aim to expand educational access, support local communities, and prepare students for high-demand careers. The partnerships leverage technical colleges’ strengths in workforce development, applied learning, and community engagement, particularly in rural areas. Manhattan Tech has expanded its facilities and outreach to re-engage adult learners, while Salina Tech continues to grow programs aligned with local industry needs.
The initiatives build on K-State’s broader efforts to collaborate with technical and community colleges across Kansas, providing flexible, accessible pathways for students to achieve bachelor’s degrees while staying rooted in their communities.
