STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY and National Grid are responding at the scene of a reported gas leak in Meiers Corners.
The response began with a report of gas odors seeping from manholes on Monday night on Wheeler Avenue near Westwood Avenue, according to emergency communications.
Early Tuesday morning during rush hour, manhole covers had been removed, and orange cones had been placed around those openings.
