Mayor Zohran Mamdani nominated Midori Valdivia as commissioner of the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission.
Mamdani announced Valdivia’s nomination at a press conference Tuesday evening outside LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal C Taxi Hold Lot.
According to the MTA, Valdivia is no stranger to the TLC; she once held the role of deputy commissioner, where she led efforts to develop one of the largest wheelchair-accessible taxi fleets in the U.S. at the time.
Valdivia, a Princeton graduate, is currently the chief operating officer for the Coro New York Leadership Center and has held senior roles at major transportation agencies in NYC, including the MTA.
The TLC commissioner nominee began her career at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
