Police arrested and charged a Brooklyn man with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a 24-year-old in a Flatbush apartment building Sunday.
Officers took Yonathan Guzman, 22, into custody shortly before 5 p.m., charging him with murder and three counts of criminal weapons possession, NYPD officials said.
Guzman is accused of shooting the 24-year-old man inside the building where Guzman lived, on Dorchester Road near East 21st Street early Sunday. Police said they responded to a 911 call about someone shot at the address around 2 a.m.
Officers found the 24-year-old with a gunshot wound to his torso, according to officials. He was taken to Kings County Hospital and pronounced dead.
Police have not released the victim’s identity as they work to notify his family. They said they are investigating a potential motive in the shooting and the circumstances leading up to it.
Prosecutors said a judge set bail for Guzman at $250,000 cash or $750,000 bond Monday. His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
