John Harbaugh and the New York Giants agreed to make him their next head coach late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning, according to multiple reports. The deal is not yet signed, but heading that way. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports Todd Monken, Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator in Baltimore, is expected to join him in New York.

His deal is expected to last five years with a total value approaching $100 million, according to Jordan Schultz.

The youngest 63-year-old you’ll ever see, Harbaugh was viewed as the top candidate of this cycle, particularly with Mike Tomlin signaling he will take the 2026 season off. Harbaugh went 180-113 over 18 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

Harbaugh led Baltimore to the playoffs 12 times and won six AFC North championships. His teams reached the AFC Championship four times, most recently in 2023, and won Super Bowl LVII to close the 2012 season. Harbaugh nearly faced the Giants in Super Bowl LVI, losing to the New England Patriots in the AFC title game.

New York has only made the playoffs twice since winning the league title in 2011, and has employed four head coaches over the last 10 seasons. Under Brian Daboll, the G-Men went 9-7-1 and won a playoff game in 2022, but then went 6-11, 3-14, and 4-13 over the past three seasons.

The club feels excited about its future with quarterback Jaxson Dart, running back Cam Skattebo, and wide receiver Malik Nabers — they just need a coach to teach them, and the entire organization, how to win. Harbaugh knows that quite well.
