Dr. Jayne D. Rivas, known also as Jayne Robertson, died Dec. 18, 2025, at Brighton House in Boston. Born on Staten Island to Albert and Marguerite (Leddy) Rivas, she graduated from St. Louis Academy and St. Peter’s Girls High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from SUNY Plattsburgh and a Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.

Throughout her distinguished medical career, Dr. Rivas worked exclusively in hospitals founded by the Sisters of Charity of New York, serving as Director of the Pediatrics Training Program at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Staten Island, overseeing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and ultimately becoming Medical Director of The New York Foundling Hospital’s skilled nursing facility and Chairperson of Pediatrics at St. Vincent’s in Manhattan.

She co-authored an organic chemistry textbook, published medical journal articles, served as a faculty member at the New York College of Medicine, and was honored as a SUNY distinguished alumna. An active member of Sacred Heart parish on Staten Island, she sang in the church choir, performed with the St. Vincent’s Players theatre group, and served for 10 years as camp physician at Birch Family Camp for families living with HIV/AIDS. She is survived by her daughter Jayme Rivas Robertson, sons Luke and Mark Robertson, four brothers, one sister, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, and was predeceased by her husband Ray Robertson and son Andrew Robertson.
