A head-on collision between a school bus and a car in a Chicago suburb left at least one person dead and 11 others, including several students, sent to hospitals.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead by Illinois State Police, while no major injuries were reported among the children on the bus. The bus was transporting 10 Manhattan School District 114 Students.
The crash happened at 8:17 a.m., according to the Manhattan Fire Protection District.
The students and bus driver were evaluated at the scene and transported to nearby hospitals “due to the severity of the accident,” the fire protection district said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
