The New York Giants have reached an agreement with John Harbaugh to become the franchise’s 22nd head coach, USA TODAY’s Art Stapleton reported Thursday morning.

Harbaugh has accepted the position, with only paperwork and an official announcement remaining.

“We are good. He’s the (head coach),” a Giants source told Stapleton.

New York and Harbaugh worked hard through the night to finalize the deal, which will become official on Thursday when he puts pen to paper.

The 63-year-old Harbaugh, who spent 18 seasons leading the Baltimore Ravens to consistent playoff contention and a Super Bowl victory, brings proven stability to a Giants organization that has cycled through first-time head coaches in recent years.

A key factor in Harbaugh’s decision was rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Dart’s film study and extensive in-person meeting with Harbaugh served as a “massive selling point,” aligning with Harbaugh’s stated preference for joining a team with an established quarterback.

The Giants moved aggressively to secure Harbaugh before scheduled interviews with other teams, notably the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons.
