STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY battled a fire early on Friday morning at a home in New Springville.
The fire was reported at 12:09 a.m. at 271 Merrymount St. between Nome Avenue and Richmond Hill Road, according to a spokesperson for the FDNY/EMS.
The fire reportedly started in the basement of the private dwelling, according to the FDNY spokesperson.
About 21 units and 79 fire and EMS personnel brought the basement fire under control in about a half-hour, at 12:41 a.m.
No injuries were reported, and fire marshals are investigating the blaze.
