NEW YORK (PIX11) — In response to potentially hazardous road conditions, the New York City Department of Sanitation has issued a Winter Operations Advisory beginning midnight on Saturday.

Officials warn that a mix of snow and rain is expected to begin around midnight and could result in icy conditions.

Snow may begin overnight around 1 a.m. and could continue until about 10 a.m. Saturday. The snow will then mix with rain for the rest of the day.

Rain will likely transition back to snow overnight into Sunday before a brief clear-out. On Sunday, a wintry mix is expected to return, with additional snow expected after 1 p.m.

While accumulation is not expected, DSNY crews will salt the roadways. Overnight temperatures will hover around freezing.

Officials say there are no anticipated changes to the trash and recycling collection schedule. There will be no trash and recycling collection on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Alternate Side Parking rules will also be suspended on Monday.
