QUEENS, NY — Ten people, including five fighters were injured after a three-alarm fire at an apartment building in Queens Saturday morning.
The three-alarm blaze broke out around 4 a.m. at an apartment building on Flushing Avenue in Ridgewood, according to the FDNY.
More than 120 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene.
The fire seems to started on the first floor of the building but then quickly spread to the second and third floors.
A collapse in the rear of the building forced firefighters out, and they had to fight the blaze from the outside, the FDNY said.
Five firefighters suffered minor injuries in the fire and five civilians were also injured. They were all taken to a local hospital for treatment.
FDNY fire marshals will determine the cause of the fire.
