VICTORIA, Texas – The future of Crossroads basketball was on full display this weekend as the Crossroads Kings and Queens AAU organization opened tryouts for middle school athletes at St. Joseph High School.
Young players were invited to showcase their skills at the Keaton Field House behind the Flyer Dome, with a second round of tryouts scheduled for Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The organization continues to focus on developing talent across the Crossroads, emphasizing skill growth, confidence, and teamwork.
Several players spoke about the positive environment within the program and the opportunity it provides to grow both on and off the court.
“This was my first sport I ever joined, and I fell in love with it,” Crossroads Queens player Aubreah Stafford told 25 News Now. “The teammates are nice, the coaches are sweet and helpful, and they really help you get better at basketball. There are a lot of good players out there, and they’re going to be something one day.”
Julissa Casas highlighted the importance of encouragement and leadership during drills.
“If someone doesn’t know what to do, I tell them, ‘You’ve got it—just keep going,’” Casas said. “Once you help them through the drill, they feel more comfortable. Confidence shows when you know what you’re doing.”
With tryouts continuing this weekend, the Crossroads Kings and Queens AAU program looks to build the next generation of local basketball talent.
