NEW YORK (PIX11) – A winter weather advisory is in effect for New York City until Sunday. More snow is moving into the tri-state area, according to the National Weather Service.

A coastal low is expected to pass east of the tri-state region on Sunday, bringing snow with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches in cities in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

New York City Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

The Department of Sanitation has issued a snow alert that goes into effect at 4 a.m. Sunday.

From 7 a.m. to at least 8 p.m., snow is expected to pound the tri-state.
