2025 marked 10 years since PVRIS released White Noise.
On December 13th, PVRIS played Webster Hall. PVRIS has played this venue (and New York city) countless times. They’re one of the best acts working today. Although, his wasn’t just any show, they played their debut album White Noise from start to finish. The album was a crucial moment of the scene. Seeing it live was truly a night to remember.
The record blends hard rock with an atmosphere that is completely original. Many bands tried to copy this sound after PVRIS but no one did it nearly as well as them. The band developed a complete soundscape. Beyond the chords and songwriting, the production of the album is a new experience. There’s so many times and layers weaved into the rock. It’s truly fantastic.
Musically, the band sounded astounding in concert. Live, the music sounds identical to the studio recordings. Lynn Gunn [vocalist] is a powerhouse. She would belt out notes from her soul like on “Ghosts” and the title track. On others her vocal delivery was raw and ferocious like on angrier tracks “Fire,” “My House,” and “You and I.”
The production design featured antique furniture being flipped around floating. There were neon lights and screens behind the band. All of this added texture to the performance. It felt like fans were transported to another universe. Especially since the music itself was so atmospheric, having the stage to match was genius.
The show ended up being one of the best of the year. Every aspect of the show exceeded our expectations. PVRIS has released numerous records since, but hearing their debut was special. The band has come so far and done so many incredible things since they started. Even from their start fans knew this was something special. Celebrating that in the big apple was an honor!
