New Yorkers, it’s going to be a frigid few days.

The National Weather Service said Monday that a series of cold fronts are expected to move across the region this week. Temperatures on Monday night are expected to fall into the teens. It will feel like a couple of degrees below zero thanks to wind chills, the weather service said.

On Tuesday, the highs are expected to be in the lower 20s, but the wind chill should make it feel like the single digits and teens. Temperatures will also fall on Tuesday evening as high pressure moves overhead, according to forecasters.

“This will make for uncomfortable wake ups through mid week,” the weather service said on social media.

Temperatures rebound, relatively speaking, as the week progresses, with Wednesday’s weather expected to be as warm as the 30s. Temperatures could reach the lower 40s on Thursday, forecasters said. Rain or snow showers are possible on Thursday, the weather service said.

Cold fronts that move across the region on Thursday and Friday evening will also mean for a frosty weekend.

New York City Emergency Management advised New Yorkers to prepare for the cold this week and to check on friends and neighbors.

“These will be dangerous life-threatening conditions for anyone without proper winter clothing and gear outdoors or reliable heat indoors,” it said.

It added to limit time outside, cover exposed skin when outdoors and call 311 if residents can’t resolve heat or hot water issues with their landlords.

It has also expanded its outreach to homeless people to offer them shelter.
