A lawsuit has been filed in New York State Supreme Court, pushing to halt construction of Micron’s chipmaking facility in Clay.

According to court documents, the lawsuit is pushing to vacate Onondaga County’s acceptance of the project’s final environmental impact statement and to annul any permits granted to Micron to begin construction.

It was filed in Albany by Neighbors for a Better Micron, a community group of residents based in the town of Clay, and the nonprofit Jobs to Move America.

They claim the environmental review process was rushed and didn’t provide enough time for public comment despite calls for an extension.

The lawsuit also claims the environmental impact statement does not adequately address concerns over forever chemicals, greenhouse gas emissions, or the destruction of wetlands.

Micron broke ground on their semiconductor facility on Friday.

Construction at the site is expected to last until 2045.
