In the first ever Queens of the Pacific Women’s Softball Tournament, Guam’s Smokin’ Hot came away with the top trophy this past weekend at the Guerrero Field at Paseo.

The weekend tournament drew two teams from Japan and one team each from the CNMI and Korea, along with two teams from Guam.

In the end, it was the American Legion/XSC team from Japan against Smokin’ Hot.

American Legion made a bold statement with a 16-2 win in the double elimination championship format.

Smokin’ Hot then fought back to win two in a row, 15-4 and 13-3, to be named Queens of the Pacific.

According to tournament director Jessilyn Balajadia, there was nothing but great comments from the teams. She said it will be an annual event and looks forward to making it grow.
