A rift inside the family of David and Victoria Beckham has exploded into the public after their eldest son released a statement saying their relationship has fractured due to his parents’ alleged treatment of his wife.
Much of the allegations from Brooklyn Beckham, 26, stem from his 2022 wedding with wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.
Brooklyn Beckham released a bombshell statement in a series of six Instagram Stories on Jan. 19, writing in part that he does “not want to reconcile” with his family and that he had been “silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.”
He alleged that his parents, the British soccer icon and former Spice Girl turned fashion mogul, “have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped.”
He also alleged that his wife had been “disrespected” by the family and was not invited to David Beckham’s 50th birthday party. Brooklyn was noticeably missing from photos of the celebration in May 2025.
NBC News has reached out for comment to Victoria and David Beckham as well as Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham and not received a response.

When Did Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Get Married?
The oldest of Victoria and David Beckham’s four children married Nicola Peltz in April 2022 at an estate in Palm Beach, Fla., owned by the Peltz family.
Peltz Beckham is the daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Heffner.
David Beckham shared a photo on Instagram of him with Brooklyn and his two brothers from the day, wishing Brooklyn “a lifetime of happiness.”
The soccer icon also shared a photo of the new husband and wife, congratulating the couple.
The couple got engaged in 2020, according to an Instagram post from Brooklyn Beckham.
What Did Brooklyn Beckham Say Happened at His Wedding?
In his statement on Instagram on Jan. 19, Brooklyn Beckham made various allegations about his parents in the lead-up to, and the day of, his wedding.
Wedding dress designer
Brooklyn Beckham said that his mother “canceled making Nicola’s dress in the 11th hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”
Peltz Beckham ended up wearing a custom Valentino couture gown, according to Vogue.
“It was a no-brainer,” Peltz Beckham told Vogue about working with Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli on the dress.
Rights to his name
He also included other allegations regarding their wedding day.
“Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife and our future children,” he wrote. “They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday and they have never treated me the same since.”
Brooklyn Beckham changed his name to Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, as did Nicola Peltz Beckham.
Seating arrangements
He also said his mother had an issue with the seating arrangement at the reception.
“During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me ‘evil’ because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands,” he wrote. “Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.”
First dance
Finally, one of the more explosive parts of his statement was about his mother’s alleged behavior at the reception, especially during the first dance.
“In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage where the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable humiliated in my entire life,” he said.

Victoria Beckham commented on her son’s wedding in an appearance on TODAY in October 2022.
“It was a beautiful wedding,” she said. “As a mother, to see my son so happy, it means so much.”
In October 2024, Nicola Peltz Beckham shared on TODAY what it was like to become part of one of Britain’s most famous families.
“Brooklyn grew up so close with his family and now for us to spend so much time together, I feel so lucky,” she said.
Brooklyn Beckham also spoke on TODAY in October 2024 about the connection between his wife and his family.
“My mum and dad love her, everyone gets along, which I’m so happy about,” he said.
Why Did Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham Renew Their Vows?
The couple shared photos on Instagram in August 2025 revealing that they had a ceremony to renew their wedding vows.
Peltz Beckham was pictured in an off-the-shoulder gown as she held a rose and embraced her husband.
“Only love 🤍” she wrote on Instagram in one post.
“This day meant so much to us,” she wrote in another.
Peltz Beckham appeared to have repurposed her mother’s 1985 wedding gown for the renewal ceremony, according to Vogue.
“To be honest, I could renew my vows every single day with her,” Brooklyn Beckham said at an Airbnb Originals Experience in Los Angeles in August 2025, according to People. “I think the most important thing that someone can do is find that person that they’re going to spend the rest of their life with. It definitely shapes you as a person. Yeah, it was really, really cute. It was really fun.”
In his Jan. 19 statement, Brooklyn Beckham revealed why they decided to renew their vows just a few years after their original wedding.
“We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,” he said.
