STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have asked permission of the Indianapolis Colts to interview defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo — who played at Susan Wagner and Wagner College — for their head-coaching vacancy, according to profootballtalk.com.

The Buffalo job opened when Sean McDermott was fired after the Bills lost in the NFL division playoffs to the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Anarumo had interviewed for the New York Giants head coaching vacancy last week, but that got filled Tuesday by John Harbaugh, the former Ravens’ head coach.

He also interviewed for the Tennessee Titans’ head-coaching vacancy that was filled by former Jets head coach Robert Saleh.

Anarumo, 59, has bounced around the NFL since 2012, but made a name for himself as a defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2019-2024, and now with the Colts.

In 2023, Anarumo was a finalist for the Arizona Cardinals’ head coaching job but was passed over.

Now, he’s hoping to finally land his first head coaching gig.
