Willing, N.Y. — A man was killed after a logging truck hit an Amish buggy this week in Upstate New York.

The deadly crash happened around 1:35 p.m. Tuesday in Willing, a rural town in the Southern Tier about 3 miles north of the Pennsylvania border.

Atlee Miller, of Willing, was traveling on County Route 29/Stone Dam Road when he turned his horse-drawn buggy into the path of a “fully loaded” International logging truck, the New York State Police said in a news release.

The accident happened between Graves Road and Hunt Road, according to The Wellsville Sun.

Miller was rushed to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, where he later died, troopers said. He was 24 years old.

The horse that was pulling the buggy was not injured in the crash, troopers said.

The state police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit investigated the deadly accident.

The name of the logging truck driver was not immediately released. Troopers did not specify if any tickets had been issued or charges had been filed.

The accident marked at least the second crash involving an Amish buggy in Upstate New York within five days.

Joseph S. Miller, 34, of Heuvelton, was injured Friday after an SUV hit the buggy he was operating in Oswegatchie, a small town in Northern New York.

The driver of the SUV, Bobbi Jean Seguin, fled from the scene of the accident without stopping, troopers said. She was found and arrested five hours after the hit-and-run crash.
