Date night at Dairy Queen may not be on your Valentine’s Day radar, but February’s Blizzard of the Month flavor may change your mind. The season of love is also the season for all things red velvet cake, the deep red dessert that’s widely regarded as a Southern classic, and DQ is playing Cupid by bringing back the popular flavor for its most iconic treat.
With red velvet cake mix-ins and silky cream cheese icing blended into DQ’s famous soft-serve ice cream until thick, the Red Velvet Cake Blizzard is a creamy concoction fans love.

The flavor likely saw a resurgence after that famous armadillo groom’s cake scene in the movie Steel Magniolias, but red velvet cake has been around for decades. Cocoa powder gives the cake a chocolatey edge, while buttermilk and vinegar give it tang. Its bright red hue makes it a popular treat for valentines—and galentines—to share. Add all of this to a famous Dairy Queen Blizzard, and it’s a match-making success story.
The Blizzard flavor debuted in 2014 and fans request its return all year long. It officially comes back to the menu on January 26, along with two for $6 Valentine’s Cupcakes. The Treats for Two deal comes with two cupcakes topped with pink, red, or white frosting and heart-shaped sprinkles.
These fan-favorite treats are only around through February, so head to your local DQ with your sweetheart and spread the love.
