NEW YORK CITY — The second and final New York City mayoral debate will take place on Wednesday, as in two weeks New Yorkers will elect its next mayor.
Zohran Mamdani (Democrat), Andrew Cuomo (Independent) and Curtis Silwa (Republican) will have one more chance to get their message across to voters live on television.
Here’s what you need to know.
The second mayoral election debate is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will be live on Spectrum News, NY1. Errol Louis, Katie Honan and Brian Lehrer will moderate the debate.
While in the first debate, Mamdani and Cuomo went after each other over their experience and who would be a better fit for mayor, it will be interesting to see how Cuomo tries to garner potential Republican votes, conservative leaning Democrats and independents in the final debate.
Cuomo has recently called on Sliwa to drop out in order to consolidate votes needed to beat Mamdani.
Sliwa has refused to drop out of the race, saying that Republican voters would not go for Cuomo.
With Election Day two weeks away, it will be interesting to see how Cuomo and Sliwa look to attack Mamdani on his policy proposals and on his thoughts on the city’s biggest issues.
The Democratic candidate remains the presumed frontrunner with double-digit leads over Cuomo, according to recent polls.
The first debate, on Oct. 16, saw the candidates field questions on their handing of President Donald Trump, city schools, public safety, housing and Israel, among other issues.
