NYC Airports Continue To Deal With Hundreds Of Flight Delays, Cancellations

NEW YORK CITY — Travelers flying in and out of New York City area airports will have to continue to contend with lingering delays and cancellations as a result of the major snow storm this past weekend.

Around 1,350 flights in and out of New York City’s airports were canceled Monday.

JFK Airport had already canceled 470 flights, LaGuardia Airport canceled 432 flights and Newark Liberty International Airport canceled 448 flights, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware.

On Sunday, more than 11,000 flights were cancelled nationwide, the most since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 2,800 flights were canceled at the three New York City-area airports.

The city saw between 8 and 15 inches of snow during the winter storm on Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

Central Park had 11.4 inches of snow on the ground on Monday. JFK and LaGuardia Airports reported about 10.3 and 9.7 inches of snow around midnight.
