Jersey City Mayor James Solomon has unveiled his seven Co-Governance Committees with 164 total members to solicit more community feedback during his first 100 days in office.

“When we launched our transition, I said that delivering on our promises would require more than policy expertise—it would require partnership with the people of Jersey City,” Solomon said in a statement.

“The Co-Governance Committee reflects our belief that good government isn’t just something we do for residents—it’s something we do with them. These leaders will help us listen, learn, and ensure that every neighborhood has a voice in building the Jersey City we all deserve.”

The committee will serve as community feedback to the 96-member Transition Policy Committee announced on January 7th, as HCV first reported, and administration’s policy work building an agenda.

Like the Transition Policy Committees, the Co-Governance Committees are focused on seven policy areas:

• Public Safety
• Housing and Economic Development
• City Assets, Sustainability, and Street Safety
• Transit and Transportation
• Education and Youth
• Arts and Culture
• Health and Human Services

This brings together a diverse group of subject matter experts, community leaders, and civic stakeholders who contribute their expertise, perspectives, and insights to ensure a rigorous and inclusive process for shaping the administration’s early policy agenda, according to the mayor’s office.
