NEW YORK (PIX11) – The top three candidates for New York City mayor will be facing off for one final time on Wednesday night for their last debate.
Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani continues to hold an insurmountable lead over independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, as long as Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa stays in the race, according to a new poll from AARP/Gotham Analytics. If Sliwa exits the race, Mamdani’s lead over Cuomo would shrink to 44.6% over 40.7%.

In his most recent messaging, Mamdani has vowed to scrutinize the billions of dollars the Department of Education is spending.
“This is a choice between a disgraced former governor and a vision for change. I am a Democratic socialist who believes in the dignity of each and every New Yorker. The responsibility of city government… to deliver for those New Yorkers that which is necessary to live a dignified life,” Mamdani has previously said.
Cuomo has also promised big things, saying that he’ll take over major subway build projects due to his experience in large capital construction projects like the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and LaGuardia Airport.
“This election is a choice between capitalism and socialism; that is the choice,” Cuomo said.
Sliwa has adamantly refused to drop out, even claiming that Cuomo offered him money to do so. His focus for New York City is public and transit safety, with plans to hire thousands more police officers.
