If you’ve had a flight delayed or canceled, you may be entitled to compensation, according to New York state Attorney General Letitia James.
The AG’s office issued a consumer alert on Friday urging airline passengers to research their rights.
Recent winter weather has caused thousands of flight cancellations and delays nationwide, including at major airports in New York state.
James wants New Yorkers to file complaints online or by phone with her office if they face unexpected travel changes and don’t get the compensation they deserve.
When submitting a complaint, travelers should have their booking details, flight details and any supporting documentation.
“Winter storms are unpredictable, but travelers’ rights are not,” James said in a statement. “If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, you may be entitled to a refund. Airlines must follow the law, and all New Yorkers deserve clear answers, fair treatment, and the refunds they are owed.”
