It is a new month, and parents across New York State will need to plan ahead now for kids being home for the day later this month. There are several days in February that all public schools in New York State will be closed.
Public Schools In New York Will Be Closed On These Dates
There are two school holidays and a mid-winter break on tap this month for students across New York State. The good news is that all these holidays and days off all happen in the same week.
Public schools are off on Monday, February 16th, for Presidents’ Day. This is also a Federal Holiday, which means most government offices and banks will be closed as well.
The second School holiday is the Lunar New Year. This became a school holiday just a couple of years ago, and this year, it falls on Tuesday, February 17th. All public schools will be closed on that day.

Some schools, not all of them, will also have a half-day on Friday, February 13th. Make sure you double-check with your child’s school district to see if they have a half-day on the 13th.
