James D. Deaver, 84, passed away on Jan. 20 in Accord, New York. Born on Jan. 7, 1942, on Staten Island, he was raised at Mount Loretto and built a distinguished career as an elite machinist on Staten Island before relocating to upstate New York, where he continued his craft until retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his pets. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Deaver, his sisters and their husbands, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Lawrence (Scotty) H. Arminas, 86, was born in Brooklyn and lived in Fort Wadsworth. He graduated from Apex Technical School and Turners School of Refrigeration, becoming an Operating Engineer at the Broadway Theatre and Long Island University Brooklyn campus and a member of the I.U.O.E. local 30. Scotty previously worked as an iron worker, bartender, and cab driver for Grant City 5, and was a member of the “21” club in Midland Beach. An avid golfer and New York Football Giants fan, he coached in the Staten Island Touch Tackle League and was known for helping family and friends in times of need.
