JACKSON HEIGHTS, Queens (PIX11) — A 17-year-old student is accused of sending antisemitic emails about killing Jews to multiple people in his Queens high school, according to police and sources.
The teen allegedly sent threatening messages to several people at Renaissance Charter School at 35-59 81st. St. in Jackson Heights at around 12:34 p.m. Monday, according to the NYPD.
The emails referenced killing Jews, sources said. It was unclear to whom the messages were sent.
The student was arrested a few hours later and charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime and making a terroristic threat, police said.
There have been 22 hate crime incidents reported citywide this year, according to NYPD data.
Last week, a New Jersey man allegedly rammed his car into the Chabad-Lubavitch Headquarters in Crown Heights, authorities said. Dan Sohail, 36, of Carteret, is accused of driving his dark-colored 2012 Honda Accord into the synagogue at 770 Eastern Parkway five times at around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the NYPD.
The building was packed with people attending a religious service. No injuries were reported.
Another man is accused of punching a Queens rabbi and hurling antisemitic slurs like “F—Jews” on Jan. 27, which was International Holocaust Remembrance Day, authorities said.
Eric Zafra Grosso, 32, allegedly attacked the rabbi near Queens Boulevard and Yellowstone Boulevard in Forest Hills between 2:20 p.m. and 3 p.m., according to prosecutors.
