Closing arguments were delivered Tuesday in the Bronx in the trial of an NYPD sergeant from Putnam County accused of killing a man with a cooler.

The defendant, Erik Duran, is accused in the death of Eric Duprey two years ago.

Duran was working undercover when he tried to make a drug arrest but targeted the wrong man, prosecutors said.

They said Duran threw a heavy cooler at Duprey’s head as he drove, killing him, prosecutors said.

The defense said Duran was forced to make a life-or-death decision and described the suspect as a deadly threat.

Duran faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
