QUEENS — OLYMPIC SOCCER COMES to Queens in 2028, with LA28 naming New York City FC’s planned Etihad Park as a host site for group-stage and knockout matches, according to ABC7.

Construction on the stadium at Willets Point has not yet begun, but organizers say it is scheduled for completion in 2027, putting it on track for Olympic play in 2028.

LA28 said the tournament will start in Queens and move west across the country as teams advance, with additional early-round sites in Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San Jose and San Diego.

The men’s gold medal match is set for July 28, 2028, followed by the women’s final on July 29, 2028 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
