Police say a person of interest is in custody after an NYPD school safety agent was stabbed in the leg while breaking up a fight at a middle school in East Flatbush.

Officers responded to I.S. 285 Meyer Levin, located at 5909 Beverley Road, just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say the 53-year-old woman was stabbed in the calf while trying to separate two students who were fighting.

EMS took the woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where she are expected to recover.

Sources say the middle school does not require students to pass through metal detectors.
